Prime Minister of the Republic of Poland, Mr. Donald Tusk, recently identified lack of responsible and courageous leadership as one major challenge facing the world.
What the world lacks, he said, were not natural resources but the kind of leadership that could responsibly harness the resources. Tusk spoke alongside President Goodluck Jonathan in Abuja during his recent his visit to Nigeria. He is the first Polish Prime Minister to visit Nigeria.
He described Nigeria as one of the most promising economies in the world. Describing Poland as the country that copes the best with the global financial crises, Tusk said the economic potentials of both countries were promising and comparable.
The Prime Minister noted the common interest of the two are trade, energy, agriculture, defence and foreign policy, adding that their experiences, skills and potentials Jonathan observed that Tusk’ visit offered the two countries opportunity to exchange views on a number of subject matters, especially those bordering on their economies.
He said, “We reviewed the state of our bilateral relations and acknowledged that we can do more to deepen and uplift our bilateral relations, considered a number of agreements on trade, investment promotion and protection. These agreements are vital and necessary to boost our bilateral trade and influx of Direct Foreign Investments into our countries.”
