The democratic journey of most African Countries after prolonged military dictatorship has been worrisome to all lovers of democracy. The great expectations of good governance and development have been in diminishing returns in Africa and this has been attributed largely to the dearth of the strong institution in Africa. Among the three drivers of democracy, namely; Legislative, Executive, and Judiciary. It is the Judiciary that always has stood the test of time in developing countries of Africa. Indeed Africa has been told loud and clear, that what it needs for democracy to thrive and flourish are strong institutions; and not strong individuals. It is in this context that our cover story is on the unique rule of the Judiciary in the consolidation of democracy with a special focus on Africa. In addition, we bring to you excerpts from the speech of Mohammed Buhari at the Chatham House, London on February 26th, 2015 after the Presidential Election that centered on Democratic Consolidation in Africa.

The Annual General Meetings of the Africa Development Bank AFDB were concluded recently in Ghana. We bring to you the vivid remarks made by President Nana Kofor Addo as well as the exposition by the President of AFDB, Dr. Akinwumi Adeshina on Climate Change and the Bank’s Strategies in combating food insecurity in Africa.

In corporate governance, two Chief Executive in the public sector of the Nigerian Economy council comes with limelight; they are the Managing Director of the reinvigorated Nigeria Railway Corporation NRC and the Chairman of Gombe State Internal Revenue Service. Both are Proven Integrity men in public service. They are role models for emulation.
