The year 2014 is significant to Nigeria in two ways: it doubles as the Centenary year of Amalgamation (1914-2014), and 54 years of nationhood, October 1.
More importantly, it is the last year before the 5th General Elections since 1999. This last landmark makes the cover story of this edition of Integrity International Magazine.
No doubt, the major focus of the 5th general elections is credibility, cum local and international acceptability. Another is For Whom the Sun Rises in the Presidential race of 2015. Unlike the past elections that produced no fewer than ten presidential candidates from different political parties, next year’s presidential elections will obviously be a Two-Party contest between the ruling Peoples’ Democratic Party (PDP) and the All Progressive Congress (APC).
The expectation is that by the time the two political parties conclude presidential primaries in November (APC) and December (PDP), respectively two presidential candidates will emerge for the electorate to elect the man to occupy Aso Rock for the next 4 years (2015 – 2019). What is very critical is conducting a free, fair and credible election which the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) says it is equal to the task. Time shall tell.
Integrity International is congratulating the good people of Nigeria and the leadership for the country’s 54 years of Independence from British rule. We believe that in the years ahead the country will emerge a stronger, more united, indivisible and progressive nation. This hope is contained in Mr. President’s Independence Anniversary nation-wide broadcast lucidly captured in this magazine.
You will also find interesting to read, the great effort of containing the dreaded Ebola Virus Disease (EVD) in West Africa sub-region and the global intervention, as well as the international action against terrorism and insurgency.
We are introducing two new departments – Tourism and Property Development as an editorial policy. As usual, deserving recipients of GLIMA are colorfully presented and projected in this edition of Integrity Magazine.
All these and more for your delight.
Happy reading.
